Thiogamma® for strong nerves
Hyperglycemia, which often occurs in diabetes mellitus patients, causes increased production of free oxygen radicals that damage peripheral nerves.
Alpha-lipoic acid is a free-radical scavenger that catches damaging oxygen radicals both in aqueous and lipid soluble cell environments, thereby counteracting the sensory disorders of diabetic polyneuropathy.
Since our body can only absorb a very small quantity of alpha-lipoic acid through our diet like innards, an additional supply is recommended.
Thiogamma® contains the active ingredient alpha-lipoic acid that protects the nerve cell from damaging degradation products and free radicals, thus being able to improve nerve conductivity.
Dysaesthesia in diabetic polyneuropathy.
One capsule contains alpha-lipoic acid 600 mg. Excipients: Sorbitol and Ponceau 4R.
Alpha lipoic acidIn dysaesthesia in diabetic polyneuropathy the recommended daily dosage for adults is film-coated tablet Thiogamma® 600 oral (equals 600 mg alpha-lipoic acid), that should be taken in doses approximately 30 minutes before the first meal of the day. In sever dysaesthesia, an initial treatment using alpha-lipoic acid infusions may be suitable.
Thiogamma® 600 oral film-coated tablets should be taken whole with sufficient fluid on an empty stomach. The simultaneous consumption of food may hinder resorption. It is therefore particularly important in patients with a prolonged stomach emptying time that the tablets are taken half an hour before breakfast.
As diabetic polyneuropathy is a chronic disease, long-term therapy may be required.
