Magnesium deficiency when it causes muscle disorders and oral therapy is not possible.

For the therapy of preeclampsia and eclampsia.

Dosage and use

The dosage depends on the severity of the magnesium deficiency or the required need. The ampoule should be injected intravenous (i.v.). The intramuscular injection has to be applied deep. The intravenous injection has to be applied very slowly while the patient is lying (the first 3 ml within three minutes). The injection of one ampoule should be repeated with a gap of one or two days.

One ampoule (10 ml) contains 2.0475 g magnesiumsulfate-heptahydrate (equals 1000 mg magnesiumsulfate, equals 8.3 mMol magnesium or 16.6 mVal magnesium or 201.9 mg magnesium). For other ingredients, please refer to the direction for use.

Cormagnesin® 200

Magnesium deficiency is quite common, but difficult to detect.

Cormagnesin® 200 is, in addition to being used for treating magnesium deficiency, used for treating preeclampsia and eclampsia. Magnesium sulfate is the first choice and, according to studies, it can reduce the rate of eclampsia by half. Intravenous administration is reasonable, as it reaches the bloodstream immediately.
