Magnesium parenteral and in high dosage
Magnesium is an important mineral with numerous functions in the body.
Since gastrointestinal problems can cause reduced absorption, intravenous administration of magnerot® 1000 Injekt is reasonable as it reaches the bloodstream immediately.
Magnesium deficiency when it causes muscle disorders and oral therapy is not possible.
1 ampoule (10 ml) contains 1000 mg magnesium-D-gluconate (as magnesiumgluconate · X H20 1030.93-1136.36 mg), (= 2.4 mMol = 4.8 mVal = 58.3 mg magnesium).
MagnesiumThe dosage depends on the severity of the magnesium deficiency.
For intramuscular (i.m.) and intravenous (i.v.) application (injection). The intramuscular injection has to be applied deep. The intravenous injection has to be applied slowly while the patient is lying (the first 3ml in 3 minutes).
The injection of one ampule should be repeated with 1 to 2 days inbetween. A treatment for several weeks is recommended.
